Techland does not change itself when creating another large-scale game. Previous projects, such as Dying Light 2 Stay Human, were already known for their length (20 hours for the story and up to 80 hours with additional content). And it looks like Dying Light: The Beast will be no exception, even though the game was originally conceived as a less ambitious project. According to the franchise director Tymon Smektala, the game's story will take about 20 hours to complete, but this is not all it has to offer.

What is known

Smektala confirmed that "additional content", including side activities, will add "at least another 20-30 hours" to the total playtime. "The game has grown a lot in the last few months, and I think it deserves it," he told GamesRadar.

This is quite logical, given the way the developers approach Dying Light: The Beast is basically like Dying Light 3. While the project originally had "a little less ambition," the idea of bringing back the original game's protagonist, Kyle Crane, has inspired the team immensely in terms of what they can achieve.

Dying Light: The Beast takes place in Castor Woods. In the story, Crane escapes from years of imprisonment to take revenge on the mysterious Baron. Despite his newly acquired abilities, similar to those of the infected, he will still have to seek shelter when darkness falls.

Dying Light: The Beast is out on 22 August for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC, and later this year for PS4 and Xbox One.
