Here's What We Know

NVIDIA was supposed to release the first Arm chip for Windows PCs in the second half of 2025, but it seems that the release will be postponed to 2026. The postponement is associated with both product changes and the situation on the processor market.

According to the original plan, the official presentation was to take place at Computex 2025, with a mass market launch in the first quarter of 2026. However, due to the unstable operation and the need to increase the power of the AI core, these deadlines are being pushed back. It is also noted that Nvidia is dissatisfied with the overall market situation. Despite the great potential of the ARM architecture in desktop PCs, weak software support in Windows and AMD's confident position with the x86 architecture make it necessary to revise the sales forecast downwards. Software migration to ARM is very slow and Microsoft is not improving the situation at all.

The chips should include the ARM Cortex-X925 and X725 architectures combined with Blackwell GPUs (e.g., GB10/GB206). Earlier it was reported that the performance of the video core could match the RTX 4070 level with a TDP of 65-80W. There will be two lines of processors - N1X for desktops and N1 for laptops.

What now?

Nvidia does not completely abandon its ambitions. The company is expected to upgrade its architecture and still enter the desktop processor market at the end of 2026. In this case, nVidia processors will go on sale no earlier than the first half of 2027.

Competitive background

The N1/N1X is NVIDIA's response to Qualcomm's Snapdragon X2 and AMD's Strix Halo APU. If all goes according to plan, this could significantly expand the Windows on Arm ecosystem. Large-scale development is underway in cooperation with MediaTek. The company had expected to reach volumes of up to 3 million N1Xs sold in Q4 2025 and 13 million in 2026, but now these deadlines will be pushed back.
