Horror game Directive 8020 won't be out in 2025: studio Supermassive Games faces another wave of layoffs
British studio Supermassive Games has once again faced serious problems and decided to postpone the release of one of its games.
Here's What We Know
The authors reported that the company will undergo another wave of layoffs, as a result of which the work will lose 36 employees. Because of this, the studio is forced to postpone the release of sci-fi horror Directive 8020, which will be the next part of The Dark Pictures anthology.
The game was supposed to be released on 2 October 2025, but now the developers are targeting the first quarter of next year (without an exact date yet).
The gaming industry remains a complex and ever-changing environment. In the process of adapting our team structure to these changes, we had to make the very difficult decision to start a redundancy procedure where we will lose up to 36 employees.
We remain focused on our future projects. We have therefore decided to postpone the release of Directive 8020 to the first half of 2026. The game has already received a fantastic response and this extra time will help us give our fans the best experience possible. We are immensely grateful to our community for their patience and support.
Directive 8020 is in development for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series.
