Nokia phones may go back on sale
The Finnish company Nokia does not want to get off the dead horse, trying to get as much money as possible from the once popular brand. No sooner had the contract with HMD and the latter's transition to its own brand cooled down, than information appeared on the web that Nokia was looking for a new victim.
Reddit reported that Nokia's communications manager was approaching major smartphone manufacturers for a new partnership. The post was later deleted.
Of course, such a communication channel does not mean that real negotiations are underway. However, it could be a sign that the company is open to such proposals. On the other hand, it could be another bad joke, as it already happened with the fake 3dfx account on X.
Despite the fact that HMD no longer produces phones under the Nokia brand, their contract expires in 2026 and they can still sell off the remaining stock and provide service support until then. But it doesn't look like this deal will be extended. Instead, Nokia wants to trade its brand as long as people are willing to pay money for it. The Finns have a trick up their sleeve - the company is still a powerful player in the communications market, so their patent portfolio is solid and continues to grow.
So, perhaps we will see "Connecting People" phones again. Although I would not want this brand to fall into the hands of third-tier Chinese manufacturers, as happened with Philips and Alcatel.
