Apple has introduced an updated beta firmware version for AirPods Pro 2 and AirPods 4. It allows you to try out new headphone features that will appear with the release of iOS 26, iPadOS 26, and macOS Tahoe.

Here's What We Know

The firmware is currently only available to developers and public beta testers and requires a device running iOS 26, iPadOS 26, or macOS 26 to install.

The new features include improved audio quality for phone and video calls, as well as studio-quality audio recording for interviews, podcasts, and videos. In addition, users will be able to use AirPods as a remote control for their camera to take photos or start video recording.

For the first time, Apple has allowed users to install firmware updates directly through the AirPods settings when they are connected to an iPhone, iPad, or Mac.

This is the first time that a beta version of AirPods firmware has been made available to public beta testers. Until now, Apple has provided beta firmware for AirPods exclusively to developers.
