Ubisoft placed a big bet on the action game Star Wars: Outlaws, which was the French publisher's first game in the franchise and was supposed to attract a huge audience of fans, but the release in August 2024 was a flop. The game was released in poor technical condition, and its artistic value was at an equally low level due to a weak story, terrible animation and general secondary.

As it turned out, Ubisoft was planning to release a sequel to the space adventure action game, but it won't happen.

Here's What We Know

During a weekly podcast on Insider Gaming, respected journalist Tom Henderson revealed that Ubisoft was secretly developing Star Wars: Outlaws 2. The game was in the early stages of production, but taking into account the low sales of the first part and the fact that its release on Nintendo Switch 2 is unlikely to save the situation, the management of the French company decided to cancel the sequel, and Ubisoft Massive studio will switch to other projects.

By the way, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot recentlyIt's all the franchise's fault: Ubisoft head voiced an unexpected reason for the failure of Star Wars Outlaws Star Wars: Outlaws, and according to him it lies "in the turbulent state in which the once iconic franchise is in". It's a strange reason, but it can't be ignored that if Ubisoft doesn't improve the quality of its games - soon it will have to come up with excuses for other failures as well.

Star Wars: Outlaws is available on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series and is already in a much better state than it was at release.
