Are we looking forward to God of War on Xbox? Sony's new job posting pointed to an expansion of the company's multiplatform strategy
Sony is gradually stepping up the multi-platformisation of its games. More and more former exclusives are released on PC, 2024 Horizon: Lego Adventures debuted on Nintendo Switch, and recently there was loud news An unprecedented event! Sony's mega-popular game is coming to Xbox, and it's Helldivers 2.
The Japanese company is refusing to focus solely on PlayStation and judging by the new vacancy, this trend will only increase.
Here's What We Know
Sony Interactive Entertainment is looking for a specialist for the position of senior director of multiplatform and account management. The applicant will not be involved in releasing games on PlayStation, but will focus on expanding Sony's ecosystem, ensuring distribution and support for its projects on PC (Steam, Epic Games Store), Xbox, Nintendo Switch and mobile devices.
The new director will also oversee long-term commercial planning and maximising profitability across all platforms except PlayStation.
Sony's main rival in the gaming industry, Microsoft, came much earlier to the impracticality of the exclusivity policy and has also started to promote its games on as many platforms as possible, including PlayStation, which was previously unimaginable.
