Tesla's electric cars will get Samsung's AI6 chips: the parties have signed a $16.5bn contract
Tesla CEO and co-founder Elon Musk has announced a contract with Samsung Electronics to manufacture and supply chips for his company's electric cars.
Here's What We Know
It became known that the agreement between Tesla and Samsung was signed for $16.5 billion and will last until 31 December 2033.
Musk emphasised that Samsung's plant, located in Texas, will produce AI6 chips for Tesla. At the moment, the Korean giant, which is the world's second largest semiconductor manufacturer, supplies AI4 chips to Tesla, while AI5 chips will be produced by Taiwanese company TSMC.
The head of Tesla noted that the final amount of the contract may change to a greater extent, and he, for his part, plans to personally control the production of chips. At the same time, Samsung, taking advantage of commercial secrecy, does not mention Tesla as a customer of chips.
Samsung agreed to allow Tesla to assist in maximizing manufacturing efficiency.

This is a critical point, as I will walk the line personally to accelerate the pace of progress. And the fab is conveniently located not far from my house ?
