HBO has unveiled an atmospheric teaser for the horror series It: Welcome to Derry, which will be a prequel to Stephen King's acclaimed novel It and its film adaptation: Welcome to Derry" (It: Welcome to Derry), which will be a prequel to Stephen King's famous novel "It" and its film adaptation.

Here's What We Know

Recall, the events of Welcome to Derry unfold 27 years before the plot of the original work. According to the canon, the deadly essence of Ono feeds on children, and then falls into hibernation for 27 years. Consequently, the series will show a wave of Ono murders preceding the one in King's novel.

In the teaser, the writers showed that the town of Derry, which leads a quiet and measured life, is actually filled with violence, cruelty and fear. People fall under the influence of Ono and lose control over themselves, and the crazy clown Pennywise, who will be the main character of the series, systematically kidnaps children, because of which the streets of Derry are pasted with adverts about the disappearance of young residents.

From the footage it seems that the authors of the series really tried to convey the visceral and frightening atmosphere of King's cult novel and, it seems, they succeeded.

The role of Pennywise was performed by Bill Skarsgard. The cast of Welcome to Derry also includes Taylor Page, Jovan Adepo, Chris Chock, James Remar, Steven Ryder, Madeleine Stowe and Rudy Mancuso.

When We Can Expect It

The first season of It: Welcome to Derry will air on HBO Max in October 2025, but the exact date is still unknown.
