The next game from Polish studio Bloober Team will be Cronos: The New Dawn.

The ambitious sci-fi horror game was announced almost immediately after the release of the excellent Silent Hill 2 remake and is attracting a lot of public attention. The developers released several spectacular trailers, and now the journalists got the opportunity to get acquainted with several levels of Cronos: The New Dawn and share their impressions.

Here's What We Know

The authors of most of the materials were satisfied with the novelty. They all note the huge creative and professional growth of Bloober Team, which proves that the success of Silent Hill 2 Remake was not accidental and not connected with the cult status of the original game.

Cronos: The New Dawn is characterised by an unusual setting of alternative 80s Poland, destroyed by some global cataclysm. Locations of post-apocalyptic Krakow look both authentic and realistic, but at the same time have a unique atmosphere and stand out against the background of numerous horror games.

In terms of gameplay and structure Cronos is most reminiscent of three well-known games of its genre: Resident Evil, Silent Hill and Dead Space. The game does not have too high dynamics of events, the character in a heavy suit moves slowly and awkwardly, weapons are not characterised by lethality, and ammunition is always in short supply.

The main feature of Cronos: The New Dawn is a unique system of behaviour of monsters, which in the game are called Orphans. The thing is that when they die, pieces of their flesh can come together and thus create even more creepy and dangerous creatures, so the player needs to separate enemies so that the living ones don't step on their dead brethren. This forces one to intelligently think through their actions and pay close attention to each battle.

The weapon system in Cronos reminds the Control game: instead of a large arsenal, the protagonist has only one gun, which can be modified in detail and thus create different weapons suitable for a particular situation.

Journalists have no doubts that Cronos: The New Dawn will be a great game, and some of them even think that the horror can surpass Silent Hill 2 Remake.

When We Can Expect It

Cronos: The New Dawn will be released this autumn on PC (Steam), PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series.
