Amid preparations for the premiere of its first production electric car, Ferrari seems to have decided to learn from the Chinese experience. According to reports from Chinese bloggers, the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra, a flagship sedan with an electric propulsion system, was spotted in closed test mode in Maranello, and is said to have been officially purchased by Ferrari itself.

Here's What We Know

This was posted by user "Sago soup in Bologna", stating that the SU7 Ultra has left the Ferrari factory. The blogger later clarified that the company had indeed bought the car to analyse and develop its own platform for next-generation electric cars.

Another blogger, Zurich Beileye, claims that Ferrari representatives travelled to Xiaomi's headquarters as early as last year to discuss a possible collaboration on electric motors. There was no official partnership, but the very fact of the acquisition of SU7 Ultra speaks about the interest of Italians in the technical solutions of the Chinese brand.

Curiously, the Xiaomi SU7 was also recently spotted at Hyundai Motor's headquarters in South Korea.
