The official iQOO brand promotional poster released as part of the ChinaJoy 2025 event finally confirmed the name of the new flagship - instead of iQOO 14, it will become iQOO 15. The reason for this is not disclosed, but the only thing that comes to mind is that the number 4 is considered unlucky in China and other Asian countries. By the way, iQOO has already skipped the "4" between models 3 and 5 once.

The same banner also announced an experience officer competition for ChinaJoy: the selected winners were promised to receive iQOO 15 at the same time as the official release. The device itself was not shown at the event, but it was mentioned that it will appear in October 2025 in China.

Expected features of the iQOO 15 series

  • 6.85″ 2K LTPO OLED display with Samsung panel and LIPO technology for thin bezels
  • Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 on board, plus iQOO's own display chip for smoothness and speed
  • Three 50MP cameras, including a 3x periscope
  • Ultrasonic in-screen fingerprint scanner, support for wireless charging
  • Ultra version of iQOO 15 Ultra will have active cooling, gaming triggers, 7000 mAh+ battery and IP protection

Announced in October 2025 in China. It is possible that the iQOO 15 and iQOO 15 Ultra will be released simultaneously. There are no details on global availability yet - they will probably appear after the domestic launch.

What's with the number 4?

The omission of the number 4 is a tradition of many Chinese companies. This number sounds like the word "death" and superstitious Chinese try to avoid saying it to avoid the evil eye. The tradition has become so established that even Western companies often omit this digit when producing products for the Asian market.
