Dropbox has announced a phased shutdown of its Dropbox Passwords password manager. The final shutdown is scheduled for 28 October 2025.

  • 28 August 2025 - the service will switch to "view only" mode: you will be able to see saved logins, passwords and payment data, but it will be impossible to add new entries and use autocomplete.
  • 11 September 2025 - the mobile app will stop working, but user data will remain available through the browser extension.
  • 28 October 2025 - shutdown of the service, complete deletion of all saved data.

Dropbox states that this decision is made as part of its "focus on its core products" (file sharing and storage). Users are advised to export their data as soon as possible to alternative password managers - such as Bitwarden, LastPass, 1Password, and in-built solutions from Apple, Google and Microsoft.

Important: after 28 October 2025, all saved passwords, logins and payment card details will be irrevocably deleted.

If you have been using Dropbox Passwords, we recommend not to delay - export your data in advance. Detailed instructions are available on the Dropbox support site.
