American motorbike manufacturer Harley-Davidson has announced a new entry-level model. The novelty will receive the designation Sprint in honour of the models of the 1960s and 70s, and the starting price will be less than $6000.

Here's What We Know

During the presentation of Harley-Davidson's Q2 2025 report, CEO Jochen Zeitz confirmed that the new Sprint, along with a second entry-level cruiser model, will be part of the 2026 lineup. Zeitz didn't reveal many details, but announced that the model will be unveiled at a Harley-Davidson dealer meeting in October. That means the public unveiling will take place shortly after that, possibly at the EICMA show in early November.

Development of the new budget motorbike model has been underway since 2021. Zeitz said that the Sprint will get a small displacement engine and will be sold not only in the US but also in other countries.

Harley-Davidson has made several attempts in the past to launch entry-level models such as the Street 750 and 500. In previous quarterly presentations, Zeitz has stated that all of these attempts ultimately failed. However, company executives are confident that things will be different with the Sprint and the as yet unnamed cruiser. These two models should pay off and then improve Harley-Davidson's financial position.

The original Sprint was produced after Harley-Davidson acquired half of Aermacchi's motorbike division. In 1961, Harley-Davidson imported the Aermacchi 250 under the name Sprint 250. In 1969, the Sprint's displacement was increased from 246cc to 344cc, and the model became the Sprint 350. In 1974, Sprint production ceased.
