Since at least 2015, Cloud Chamber Studios has been working on a new instalment of the iconic BioShock series. For the past few years, there have been reports about this game that it is in production hell, and the developers have no idea which direction to take.

According to a new article by respected insider and Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier, the situation has recently become even worse.

Here's What We Know

Schreier said that recently 2K Games management was presented with a review material that gave a glimpse of BioShock 4 (the title is conditional), and the bosses were unhappy with the work done, because of which many elements of the game will be redone again, and the head of Cloud Chamber studio Kelley Gilmore was fired, and creative director Hogarth de la Plante was transferred to the publishing division.

In addition, the journalist confirmed that a remake of the first BioShock instalment was in development to fill the void between 2013's BioShock Infinite and the next numbered game, but now there is little chance of its release.

When asked by Bloomberg for comment, 2K Games representatives said the following:

We are working hard to ensure the best possible future for BioShock. We have a good game now, but we are committed to making it great. We are working closely with the studio's management to determine the way forward.
