Xiaomi is accelerating. Xiaomi 16 and Redmi Turbo 5 (Poco X8 Pro) will be released earlier than expected
Xiaomi is preparing to release the Redmi Turbo 5 in December 2025 - much earlier than its predecessor, which was announced only in January this year.
Xiaomi is clearly changing its strategy. It has cancelled some premium models and expanded its mid-range lineup. The flagship Xiaomi 16 will be announced in September, which is a month ahead of last year's schedule. The company has probably shifted its focus from premium to mid-range and is trying to significantly strengthen itself with balanced models. Xiaomi's tactics cannot be called wrong: as of the second quarter of 2025, only Xiaomi and Samsung are showing growth among the top five brands. Even Apple is falling.
What is known about Redmi Turbo 5
- Screen:
flat OLED LTPS, 1.5K resolution - bright and flat, just like Turbo 4
- Processor: MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Ultra, the chip will allegedly be exclusive to Xiaomi until the first half of 2026 - competitors will get access later.
- Battery: about 7000 mAh, slightly larger than the Turbo 4 - and also with 90W fast charging
- Body:
metal frame
The global version will be released under the name Poco X8 Pro. The EEC documentation already has a model with the same specifications as the Redmi Turbo 5. Xiaomi is rushing the launch to be among the first with the Dimensity 8500 Ultra. The segment of junior flagships and mid-range budget is becoming increasingly competitive.
