Amazon has started selling used cars
Amazon has expanded its automotive focus: not only new but also used cars, including Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) vehicles, can now be purchased through the Amazon Autos platform. Initially, Hyundai dealers in Los Angeles are connected to the project, but the company promises to expand to other US cities in the coming months.
Here's What We Know
Standard terms include the ability to return the vehicle within 3 days or 300 miles of mileage, and a minimum warranty of 30 days or 1,000 miles. Model descriptions promise to include detailed specifications, reports on the vehicle's condition and history, and information on its provenance. Amazon also promises transparent pricing with no hidden fees and integration with dealerships, including the ability to sign up for a test drive.
To browse available cars, users need to go to the Amazon Autos website and specify a search radius of interest - no more than 75 miles from a dealership. On the platform, offers can be filtered by type: new, certified or regular used cars.
Amazon Autos business head Fan Jin said the decision to expand the programme was made in response to interest from dealers. Customers, in turn, will get a greater choice of cars for different budgets and requests.
Recall, Amazon began selling new cars in December 2024 and now cooperates with dealerships in more than 130 cities in the United States. The company says that the new scheme is beneficial to all parties: dealers get access to Amazon's multi-million audience, and buyers - a convenient platform with easy navigation and the ability to start buying online.
