Intel isn't the only one with a bad streak. Sony's mobile division has been making losses for many years, and its market share is almost homeopathic. At the beginning of this year, the company completely shut down its own mobile phone production, shifting this burden to contractors.

The Xperia 1 VI failed to live up to expectations, and the poor quality of contract manufacturing led to the company having to announce a recall campaign. Sony's mobile division left the US and European markets. And even in its native Japan, the mobile market is doing poorly. Against this backdrop, rumours spread that Sony was going to end this agony and close its mobile division.

The company denied these rumours. And now, Sony's CFO, Lin Tao, has clearly clarified the situation: "communication technology is a very important technology that Sony has cultivated for a long time. We also want to continue to value our smartphone business.". And communication technologies themselves are not just mobile phones, they are also the foundation for other areas of Sony.

The samurai dedication with which Sony carries its cross is admirable. We hope that this tactic will bear fruit and that sooner or later we will see a new dawn for their mobile division.
