Samsung has confirmed that it has produced batteries for the electric car with the world's longest driving range
In July this year, the Lucid Air Grand Touring set a Guinness World Record for the longest range of a production electric car, travelling 1,205 kilometres on a single charge from Switzerland to Germany. Almost a month later, Samsung SDI has decided to boast that it is the battery supplier for this model.
Here's What We Know
The Lucid Air battery consists of Samsung 21700 cylindrical batteries. According to Samsung, the battery pack can take enough charge to travel 400 kilometres in 16 minutes. This is achieved through advanced battery cells and a fast charger.
Samsung SDI and Lucid have been collaborating since the latter entered the market in 2016. The battery maker has promised to strengthen ties with the automaker and continue to improve its products.
