Samsung to become sole supplier of OLED monitors for MacBook
Apple seems to have decided not to share the cake when it comes to supplying OLED screens for the MacBook Pro. According to insiders, Samsung Display will receive exclusive orders for OLED panels for the new MacBook Pro model scheduled for 2026. Samsung has invested heavily in production on Gen 8.6 lines that use large glass substrates and TFT oxide films, technologies used specifically in monitor and laptop screens.
Interestingly, sources also report that Apple will replace the notch in the screen with a cutout, similar to what happened in the iPhone.
Who is the main supplier for MacBooks now?
As of 2025, China's BOE dominates, providing more than half of the display panels for all MacBooks (except OLED models). This is due to the greater demand for MacBook Air with LCD panels. But with the launch of the OLED version of the MacBook Pro, Samsung is likely to become the undisputed leader.
