Apple abandons the HomeKit brand and replaces it with Apple Home
In the beta version of tvOS 26 (build 5), Apple has replaced all references to HomeKit in the settings with a new term: "Apple Home". Most likely, the company will change not only the name but also the layout of the smart home hub.
What it means.
The HomeKit name may be replaced with Apple Home as early as next month in the final version of iOS 26. This is in line with the expected ecosystem update: new smart home devices are due to appear this year - the updated Apple TV 4K and HomePod mini 2, as well as the delayed release of HomePod Touch (tentative name) in 2026.
Apple aims to strengthen the perception of its smart home solutions by focusing on a single brand that creates a cohesive experience for consumers, especially against the backdrop of new products.
