Grok vs. ChatGPT: Musk demands justice in the App Store - and is ready to sue
So Ilon Musk is bored again - and he threatens to open a new war front. This time the victim is Apple: according to Musk, the App Store unfairly promotes only OpenAI and "bends" the rules to exclude competition. Grok (xAI's chatbot) and social network X are among the leaders in downloads - but they are blocked from the "Must-Have" section. Which, according to Musk, is a clear violation of antitrust laws. And now the court case is coming.
Here's What We Know
Grok rapidly gained popularity: after upgrading to Grok 4, adding image generation features and unsubscribing, it rose to fifth place in the App Store rankings. And X, according to Musk, is #1 among news apps and in the top 40 of all free apps. Still, in Musk's opinion, Apple is playing favourites rather than fair competition.
While Apple is silent Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, responded by sharply pointing out that Musk himself tends to manipulate X's algorithms to promote his publications - which means the claim sounds... controversial, to say the least.

Context
Apple has long been under regulatory pressure - in the US it has already been found in breach of regulations, in the EU it was fined €500m for not allowing developers to offer users an alternative to paying outside the App Store.
We'll be watching: the case could be this week's most high-profile court case - or turn into a Twitter battle on X again.
