Big changes await the zone: the authors of STALKER 2 Heart of Chornobyl have revealed a large-scale plan to support the shooter in the coming months
Ukrainian studio GSC Game World has published a large-scale plan to release updates for the shooter S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl, which covers the second half of 2025.
Here's What We Know
First of all, the company is focused on transferring the game to Unreal Engine 5.5.4 - this step will allow developers to improve the performance and stability of the game, as well as improve its overall technical state and make important improvements to the optimisation of S.T.A.L.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl.
It is still unknown when this process will be completed and it is not excluded that the "move" to the most up-to-date version of the engine will entail the release of other important updates.
In general, GSC Game World's plan includes the following items:
- A-Life system improvements: technical edits, improvements in combat behaviour for NPCs and mutants, NPCs will see worse in the dark;
- binoculars and other night vision devices;
- new anomalies, missions, weather scenarios;
- "Master" difficulty level;
- extended time-of-day cycle;
- redesigned algorithm for forming loot in geocaches;
- redesigned principle of work of stamina and energy;
- immersive display mode (disabled interface);
- updated player equipment interface;
- function for restoring saves from local backups;
- modding toolkit changes: sound modding (Wwise), tools for creating your own stories, improved mod compatibility, and more;
- a holiday event in Discord.
Another important aspect of support for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 The Zone Expands: STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl is coming soon to PlayStation 5, which will happen in late 2025.
