BMW says goodbye to the 8 Series with the limited edition M850i Edition M Heritage in E31 colours
The G15 generation of the BMW 8 Series, in production since 2018, is coming to its logical end, and to celebrate, the Bavarian brand has unveiled the limited edition M850i Edition M Heritage. A total of 500 examples will be produced, each with an extended set of equipment and painted in iconic shades from the palette of the 8 Series E31 generation.
Here's What We Know
The premiere of the M850i Edition M Heritage took place at Pebble Beach, where the novelty was shown next to the classic coupe E31. The special edition is based on the M850i xDrive Gran Coupe.
Five historic colours are available: Bright Red (pictured), Mauritius Blue metallic, Cosmos Black metallic, Oxford Green metallic and Daytona Violet metallic. Standard equipment includes a carbon roof with stripes in M colours, 20-inch Orbit Grey wheels and the M Sport Professional package with blackened accents, black calipers and tinted optics.
The interior is trimmed in alcantara, including the front fascia, door panels and ceiling. The M sport seats are covered in Black Full Merino leather and Alcantara with diamond stitching, with embossed M badges on the headrests. The interior features three-colour stitching, M850i Edition lettering on the sills and cup holder. And on the centre console there is an individual number. Equipment includes a Bowers Wilkins Diamond Surround audio system and Driving Assistance Professional.
Like the standard M850i, the special edition is powered by a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 producing 530 hp (390 kW) and 723 N-m of torque, paired to an 8-speed automatic and xDrive all-wheel drive. Acceleration from the ground to 60 mph (96 km/h) takes 3.9 seconds.
US pricing starts at $130,400 excluding the $1,175 delivery charge, which is $21,000 more expensive than the regular M850i xDrive Gran Coupe. The price difference is made up for with exclusive trim and rich equipment. Production starts in November, with first deliveries expected in Q1 2026.
