Google's "Flight Deals" AI search: tell it where you want to go and it will pick up the most favourable flight
Google has launched a new Flight Deals feature, an AI tool built into Google Flights that searches for flights based on your description rather than simple filters.
Whether you want "a week in winter in a city with great food, direct flights only" or "a week's trip to a lake", just type it in. The AI will search through hundreds of airlines and aggregators in real time to give you the best deals.
Here's What We Know
The feature is in beta and is only available in the US, Canada and India for now. Flight Deals creates lists based on maximum savings criteria - the options with the highest discount percentage appear first, and if equal, the lower absolute price appears first.
The AI understands even vague queries like "escape for a weekend out of town, with hiking forest trails and kayaking" - and will suggest suitable itineraries.
Google has also added an option to exclude "basic economy" - the most budget-friendly but inconvenient fares with baggage and seat restrictions.
Meanwhile, the company is exercising caution amid regulatory investigations - and is likely preparing interface changes, such as a price comparison block in search, to appease EU authorities.
