WIRobotics has unveiled a humanoid robot with "lifelike" movements

WIRobotics has unveiled ALLEX, a new robot capable of not just mimicking human movements, but actually reacting to what is happening around it. The robot senses force, contact and impact, and its movements are surprisingly natural. This opens up new possibilities for the use of robots in everyday life, manufacturing and service applications.
What makes ALLEX special
- Arm with 15 degrees of freedom: precise movements, grip up to 30kg, sensitive even to low impact.
- Lightweight yet powerful design: the arm weighs only 700 g, the upper body weighs about 5 kg, and the robot can safely handle loads up to 3 kg with one hand.
- Low-friction actuators: movements are smooth and safe, almost human-like.
- Gravity compensation: ALLEX is able to keep its balance and adapt to changes in position, even when interacting with objects or people.
- Full-body interaction: the robot responds to touch with its hands, fingers and body, making it incredibly lifelike when interacting with people.
What to prepare for
WIRobotics is going to turn ALLEX into a modular platform: it will be possible to use only the arms, the body or the control systems. The company is already working with world-leading research centres, including MIT and Maxon, to expand the robot's capabilities and prepare it for real-world applications in a wide range of fields.
