Exactly 10 years ago, software leader Microsoft released Windows 10. It was the first to introduce such a thing as dark windowing. Probably, to mark this milestone, Microsoft has finalised this feature. One of the new Preview builds of Windows 11 (version 26100.5061) finally got rid of the annoying bright dialogue boxes when copying or deleting files - now they match the dark design of the system. True, some elements are still bright, such as buttons, but we firmly believe that the company is already working on mastering this technology and we do not lose hope.

Dark dialogues for file operations (copy, delete, access denied, etc.) now match the overall theme, rather than being out of place. The update is being tested in Preview channels, with a public launch expected during the major Windows 11 25H2 update later in 2025.

Until now, it was common to see blinding elements in the dark theme - for example, file properties, context menus, the app launcher, and even pop-ups in Explorer remained light. This was annoying and uncomfortable, with all the other elements being dark.

Users can finally look forward to a monochromatic interface, without bright spots in the middle of the dark. This is a significant improvement, especially for those who work at night or have sensitive eyes.
