The popular video conferencing service Zoom is preparing for the next step in its development - the company has announced that it will soon stop supporting the outdated iOS 13 and iOS 14 operating systems. This means that iPhone and iPad users with such versions will no longer be able to install new updates of the application, and in the future - and fully use it.

Here's What We Know

The fresh release notes for Zoom 6.5.10 noted, "Upcoming discontinuation of support for iOS 13 and iOS 14." The company didn't give exact dates, but Zoom will require at least iOS 15 to work in the near future.

The good news is that all devices capable of running iOS 13 support iOS 15 as well, so there won't be any problems in terms of hardware. The same goes for tablets: iPadOS 15 is available on all models that previously ran on iPadOS 13 and 14.

The reason for this step is quite logical - the share of users of older systems is rapidly declining, and developers prefer to focus on more modern and secure versions. However, a special difficulty may arise for corporate clients: outdated systems are often installed on work devices, and the upgrade depends on the decision of the IT department.

If you use Zoom for work or study and your smartphone or tablet is still "stuck" on old software, it's time to remember about the need for an update. Otherwise, the app may stop working at any moment, and then an important meeting will be in danger of being disrupted.
