ASUS has unveiled a limited edition ROG Matrix GeForce RTX 5090 30th Anniversary Edition at Gamescom 2025. The card is released to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the ROG series and exists in just 1,000 copies. This is not just a GPU, but a real showpiece for those who think that "too powerful graphics card" is an oxymoron.

Here's What We Know

The main feature of the anniversary RTX 5090 is the support of power supply up to 800W. For this purpose, engineers equipped it with two 12V-6pin connectors and a special BTF connector (GC-HPWR). In fact, this is a step towards extreme overclocking and towards systems that will withstand a small power plant.

To keep the "monster" cold, ASUS used:

  • copper vapour chamber for heat distribution
  • liquid metal instead of classic thermal paste
  • radiator with 10 per cent larger area compared to ROG Astral
  • four Axial-Tech fans
  • 31-phase power supply on the PCB
  • RGB Infinity Mirror on the front panel.

According to ASUS claims, such a set gives you a margin of safety and cooling that will be enough for even the craziest usage scenarios.

Context

The card's design is inspired by the classic Matrix EN9800GT: sleek lines, metal inserts and recognisable ROG backlighting. In fact, it's not only a GPU, but also a kind of retro reference - hello from the 2000s, but with the performance of 2025.

Gaming publications note that the 800W card looks insane, but at the same time shows where the hi-end graphics market is heading. In essence, ASUS has made not just hardware, but an engineering performance "look how we can do it".
