Ford has filed applications to register the Evos, Fathom, Fuze, Hive and Mythic trademarks with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). The documents are dated 5 August 2025 and cover a wide range of vehicles, from cars and pickup trucks to electric vehicles and their components.

Here's What We Know

Ford Motor is currently working on a new platform for budget electric vehicles, which should be the basis for a whole family of models. The first of these is a mid-size pickup truck. It is not yet clear what name it will get: it will retain the Ranger, revive one of the old ones or get a completely new one. On the same day Ford filed an application for the Ranchero trademark, which may hint at the return of the legendary name for the future pickup.

The new name files came just days before the big announcement, which Ford is calling "the Model T moment." Presumably, that's the day the new electric pickup will debut and perhaps the platform itself will be unveiled.

Of the fresh names, the most familiar looks Evos: under this name in China was sold crossover, which was recently renamed Mondeo Sport. It is not excluded that the registered names will go not only to models, but also to separate configurations or versions of future electric cars.

Ford likes to bring back old names instead of inventing new ones: just remember the revived Lightning and Maverick. In addition, the company has previously registered such names as Capri, Cortina, Escort, Granada and Orion in different countries. Against this background, the appearance of several applications on the eve of a key electric car announcement looks not accidental.
