Apple prepares a new TechWoven case for iPhone 17 Pro and a new accessory
After the unsuccessful launch of FineWoven cases in 2023, Apple seems to be preparing a new attempt to replace leather in premium accessories. This time, the company may introduce a case made of TechWoven material, which is rumoured to have a tougher texture.
An eco-friendly approach
The TechWoven material is likely to be made from recycled polyethylene terephthalate (rPET), a plastic from bottles. This is in line with Apple's 2030 environmental strategy to reduce the use of virgin plastic and reduce CO₂ emissions to zero.
Design and functionality
According to leaks, the cases will be available in black, brown, blue, green and purple. The case has holes for a strap on both sides of the bottom, just like the silicone models. The packaging shown by the insiders reads: "Compatible with Crossbody Strap" - a hint of a new accessory that can be worn over the shoulder.
What is the Crossbody Strap?
Judging by the name, it could be a strap for carrying an iPhone over the shoulder, not just a wrist loop.
Apple will announce the iPhone 17 in a few weeks, the expected date of the presentation is 9 September 2025. Official cases and accessories will be announced at the same time.
