BYD has opened a car theme park with a track, dunes and a pool for off-road vehicles
Chinese auto giant BYD has launched a themed centre for car enthusiasts in Zhengzhou. Test drives of various models are available there, including the Yangwang U9 electric supercar.
Here's What We Know
The main highlight is a 1.7 kilometre long track with nine corners and a 550-metre straight, where BYD cars can accelerate up to 220 km/h. Adjacent to the track is a 15,300 square metre "dynamic paddock" where you can take a slalom race and also test the automated parking functions.
The centre also includes unique areas: an area with 30,000 basalt slabs covered with water, simulating ice and snow, as well as a 70-metre pool where the capabilities of the YangWang U8 SUV can be tested.
BYD's special pride is a sand dune of 6,200 tonnes of sand, recognised by the Guinness Book of World Records as the largest in the world for vehicle testing. The site also features an off-road track, rest area and camping area.
Four types of tickets are available to visitors. The most affordable one costs 899 yuan ($83) and includes a passenger ride in a YangWang U9 and a test drive of one Dynasty or Ocean series model. The 999 yuan ($139) ticket adds Denza and Fang Cheng Bao, as well as a track ride in the Z9 GT.
The extended package for 1,999 yuan ($280) lets you try out the U8 SUV and U9 supercar, as well as other models. A VIP ticket for 6,666 yuan ($927) gives access to all areas and cars at the centre, and a bonus includes an overnight stay at a five-star hotel.
