Well, Google has finally decided to do what Pixel owners have been waiting for years. In the upcoming Android update, users will be able to change the brightness of the torch right from the quick settings panel - without unnecessary apps and "crutches".

Prior to this, the feature was at least an odd omission. After all, the iPhone and even many Samsung smartphones have long allowed you to customise the strength of the glow. On the Pixel, however, had to put third-party utilities. Now everything will work "out of the box" - a convenient slider in the curtain, a couple of movements, and you choose whether you need a soft light or a powerful spotlight.

When can we expect an update?

The feature has already appeared in the test version of Android Canary. According to rumours, it will be included in the stable firmware together with Android 16 QPR2 update, which Google plans to roll out in September.

What else will it bring?

In addition to the torch, the Pixel will get:

  • A new dark mode and expanded support for icon themes
  • customisation of the quick settings panel - more freedom for personalisation
  • Widgets on the lock screen - handy if you want to see the weather or tasks at a glance.
  • Identity Check with biometrics for more apps.
  • and a new security feature Secure Lock Device for remote locking of the smartphone.

In general, the update promises to be useful: both more convenient and safer. And adjusting the brightness of the torch is a useful little thing, but it's these "little things" that make everyday use of the phone much more pleasant.
