Vivo has unveiled its first mixed reality headset, the Vision Discovery Edition, which could be a serious competitor to the Apple Vision Pro, offering impressive specs at a more affordable price.

Here's What We Know

The new product features two Micro-OLED displays with a resolution of 3840×3552 pixels each, providing an overall 8K image in binocular mode. Colour reproduction at 94% DCI-P3 and DeltaE < 2 accuracy make the picture vivid and realistic. The device weighs only 398 grams - almost twice as light as the Vision Pro - making it comfortable for extended use.

The headset is powered by the latest Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 processor, which delivers up to 2.5 times the performance of the previous generation. The headset supports gesture control, gaze tracking and spatial positioning with 1.5° accuracy to maximise interaction with virtual environments.

OriginOS Vision, a system specifically designed for mixed reality devices, offers a simple and clear interface for interacting with applications, watching films on a huge virtual screen and running VR games when the gadget is connected to a PC. Vivo Vision features passthrough with a latency of just 13ms, allowing seamless switching between modes.

Vivo has paid special attention to convenience: the headset supports magnetic lenses for users with glasses, and has been ergonomically designed for long-term wear.

The official price of the Vivo Vision has not yet been announced, but company representatives hinted that it will be around $1395 (in terms of yuan), which is not cheap, but much more optimistic than the cost of the Apple Vision Pro, which sells for $3500.
