Great remake of a cult game: critics praised Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater
Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater is just a few days away from release. The remake of the cult game by Hideo Kojima, of course, has been attracting attention for a long time and leaves no doubt about the quality of work done by Virtuos studio, and critics' evaluations only confirmed the high level of the novelty.
Here's What We Know
As expected, the critics were satisfied with Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater. They note that now one of the best stealth action games of 20 years ago fully corresponds to modern standards and visually is not inferior to the new games.
The authors carefully transferred all the mechanics of the original MGS 3, without making significant changes and without changing the plot of the game, but the graphics, visual effects, soundtrack and various small details have reached a qualitatively new level: lighting and shadows - impressive, dialogue - rewritten, on Snake's body are scars and burns (which was not there before), his clothes are torn and dirty, the camouflage system was slightly improved, and every action protagonist accompanied by detailed realistic animation.
Critics stated that those who hope to see something new in Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater - will be left with nothing, as the developers added only a few small innovations (mini-game and visual filters for the camera), but those who are getting acquainted with the legendary game for the first time - will get an ideal opportunity to do it, especially considering that Snake Eater is a prequel of the whole Metal Gear series, so the story is clear and not overloaded.
As a result, the remake received the following scores on aggregators:
- Metacritic - 86 points;
- OpenCritic - 87 points with 93% of critics' recommendations.
