"Halfway through our journey we found ourselves in a procedurally generated Hell: a noteworthy game based on The Divine Comedy has been announced
The past week was extremely saturated with various announcements and shows. At gamescom 2025 and a huge number of related events, developers from all over the world presented a lot of interesting games, some of which did not receive due attention in the information space.
One of such novelties was La Divina Commedia - an action-RPG in a non-standard setting.
Here's What We Know
We would like to pay attention to the trailer of La Divina Commedia. This is a game from a young Italian studio Jyamma Games, which released Enotria: The Last Song in 2024. That Soulslike was met with subdued reviews due to its weak technical execution, but it stood out for its aesthetic based on Mediterranean folklore.
The new game La Divina Commedia, as its name suggests, is based on a famous poem by Dante Alighieri and will ask gamers to travel to the nine circles of hell to rescue a beloved, not surprisingly named Beatrice.
The main feature of the game is the procedural generation of locations, thanks to which each passage will be unique. Note that this technology does not always provide the desired effect and often leads to the fact that all locations look secondary and artificial.
Nothing is known about the combat system, but it may be similar to Enotria: The Last Song.
Note that this is only the second game based on Divine Comedy, the first was Dante's Inferno (2010) from the long-closed studio Visceral Games - authors of Dead Space, but it was unsuccessful and left no trace in the game industry.
When We Can Expect It
No release date for La Divina Commedia has been announced yet.
