Case maker SpinoArmor has posted promotional images of the Sony Xperia 10 VII, which is due out in October. The image shows the smartphone from both sides. On the rear panel, you can see the redesigned camera unit. Instead of a vertical block, as in the Xperia 10 VI, the new device will have a horizontal "pill" that stretches almost the entire back panel. It houses two camera modules, an LED flash and a second microphone.

Sony tried to equip the front panel with the thickest and most asymmetrical bezels possible. The Japanese engineers managed to implement the company's signature technique of enlarging not only the lower but also the upper bezel of the smartphone. However, this made it possible to make neither holes nor recesses in the screen for the front camera.

As for the technical specifications, leaks say that the screen itself will not change - it will still be 6.1″ with an aspect ratio of 21:9. But the body will have a metal frame instead of the usual plastic. The chipset will also be updated - instead of Snapdragon 6 Gen 1, the model will get Snapdragon 6 Gen 4.

It remains unclear why Sony has made such a redesign in its budget smartphone. Perhaps this is due to contract manufacturing in China, as some Chinese manufacturers have also started making horizontal camera units.
