Elon Musk sues Apple and OpenAI - says they conspired against him
You all probably know that Apple has integrated ChatGPT into the iPhone, right? The company has an exclusive contract with OpenAI and many artificial intelligence technologies are integrated into iOS. Elon Musk considers this to be a conspiracy and has filed a lawsuit against Apple and OpenAI through his companies X Corp. and xAI. Now, Apple and OpenAI have to prove that the partnership is not based on a common hatred of Grok.
Details.
The lawsuit states that Apple and OpenAI allegedly conspired to implement ChatGPT in Siri and deny competitors (such as Grok) a chance to compete fairly. Apple is also allegedly hiding Grok and X in the AppStore regionally, even though they have many installations - they were refused a place in the App Store in the "Must-Have Apps" section.
The lawsuit claims an "anti-market collusion", Apple's smartphone monopoly, and restrictions on competition in the AI sector. OpenAI responds with a rather restrained response, as this is not the first legal action from Musk. Apple has not yet commented on the situation. Apple shares have even risen slightly, as investors seem to be unafraid of this conflict.
Lawsuits are a fairly common practice of pressure in the United States. They are launched to solve real problems, to put pressure on companies, and even to get into the press. Musk is constantly involved in numerous lawsuits, some of which he started himself, while others are the result of his controversial behaviour.
