Role-playing game Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 became the main discovery of 2025. Few people expected success from the debut project of Sandfall Interactive studio, but the French surprised gamers and critics with a stunning story, complex combat system, lively characters and, of course, an incredible soundtrack.

It was obvious that the developers will try to build on the success and continue the incredible story of Clair Obscur and now we got the confirmation of it.

Here's What We Know

Clair Obscur game director and Sandfall Interactive founder Guillaume Broche confirmed in a conversation on MrMattyPlays that the game will get a sequel. He noted that the franchise will retain the Clair Obscur name, with Expedition 33 being just its first chapter.

The developer did not reveal any information about the next game, but we can assume that its final vision is not yet formed.

During the conversation, Guillaume Broche mentioned one truth that many developers should heed: "more is not better", as he commented on the decision to remove some of the content of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 before its release. The team didn't want the game to be too boring and drawn out, so some ideas had to be cut already at the final stage, but it is possible that they will be used in the next project.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is available on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series, as well as Game Pass.
