Google has released its cloud-based video editor Vids to the public. Until now, it was available only to Google Workspace or Gemini Pro subscribers.

Google is also actively expanding the capabilities of the video editor. The company has announced two new features: video generation from images and integration of AI avatars based on the Gemini model. Both new features will be available only to paid users.

The image-to-video feature allows users to create short videos based on static images, which is suitable for presentations, social media, or training materials. Users will be able to add motion, animation, and narration, turning simple images into dynamic content.

AI avatars, on the other hand, will be able to voice text, read scripts, and even mimic facial expressions - all thanks to integration with the Gemini model. This opens up new possibilities for creating videos without the participation of real presenters or actors.

Google is positioning Vids as a tool for businesses, education, and creative teams that want to create videos quickly without complicated editing. The new features are already being tested by a limited number of users and should become available to a wider audience in the near future.
