New rumours have emerged that Huawei is going to release a powerful tablet in a small form factor. According to them, the new product will have an 8.8-inch OLED screen in 16:10 format with a refresh rate of 120 Hz and, probably, a dual-layer OLED structure (Twin-OLED or Duo OLED), as in Huawei's flagship tablets. This technology allows for higher peak brightness and reduces the effect of pixel burn-in over time.

It is also reported that the new device will have a light and thin body - ~200 g and less than 5.5 mm thick. The 9th-generation Kirin processor with 5G support, although it will not be able to compete with the top-end Snapdragon processors, will still have quite a lot of power. The model will be the smallest representative of this year's tablet line-up, along with the 14.2-inch flagship, which will also feature an OLED display and a 13,000 mAh battery with 100W charging. The new tablet will come in three body colours - black, white and green.

The niche of powerful compact tablets is clearly a very specific category, and it is difficult to single out a popular compact flagship model apart from the iPad mini. Although this form factor allows you to get perhaps the best gaming experience, the features of the Kirin architecture will not allow it to become a gaming tablet. Still, Huawei has a lot of cool technology, so we'll be watching with interest to see if it manages to change anything in this niche.
