When ordinary headphones are no longer impressive, Loewe and JacobCo - two brands that have decided to turn a gadget into a piece of jewellery - enter the scene. Their new Loewe Leo models are more jewellery than tech. Two limited edition versions: one with sapphires and one with diamonds. The price is cosmos: €99,000 (about $115,000) and €119,000 (about $138,500) respectively.

Here's What We Know

Loewe x JacobCo have released two versions of the overhead headphones. The Noir Rainbow are adorned with a 14K rose gold ring and encrusted with 15.97 carats of multi-coloured sapphires. The Ice Diamond received white gold and 12.47 carats of diamonds. Each model is limited to just five pieces, so it will be almost impossible to find them "in the wild".

Features of the Loewe Leo

Despite the jewelled surrounds, inside it's a full-fledged premium headphone:

  • Hi-Res Audio support with proprietary sound tuning
  • Adaptive Active Noise Cancellation
  • Built-in artificial intelligence for voice commands and real-time translation
  • Up to 65 hours of battery life
  • Bluetooth 5.3 with multi-connectivity
  • Ergonomic ear cushions and a design built for long-lasting use

Obviously, these headphones are not aimed at the mass market, but at those for whom €100,000 is more about image than money. But if you take away the gold and stones, the technical base is quite worthy of competing with AirPods Max and other top models. For most buyers, however, Loewe x Jacob Co. will remain more of a museum piece than an actual purchase.
