Foxconn employees in Zhengzhou work overtime as mass production of iPhone 17 begins
Mass production of the iPhone 17 has started in Zhengzhou, at Foxconn's main factory, and the plant is intensively recruiting staff, with people being warned about overtime. Chinese media reports that employees work seven days a week.
How much can you earn?
Foxconn offers generous bonuses to attract new employees: base salary + overtime bonuses: up to ¥22,000 for 3 months. This is approximately up to $3,020 USD for three months. Some temporary workers only receive an overtime bonus of ¥9,300 (~$1,280 USD).
The workers could taste the delights of a luxurious capitalist life until 29 August, after which salaries and bonuses dropped significantly. In 2024, a similar campaign allowed you to earn up to ¥22,500 (~$3,090 USD).
Not only Foxconn, but also other key Apple suppliers such as Luxshare have increased internal bonuses for employee referrals to ¥6,000 (~$820 USD) per person.
Foxconn manufactures not only iPhones but also other smartphones, such as the recently announced Pixel 10, but no one can match Apple's seasonal sales surge.
The iPhone 17 announcement is coming soon
The increase in production rates is part of Apple's autumn 2025 presentation. Apple tries to launch mass production before the presentation, but before the launch of sales around the world, it needs to ensure availability in all stores, which leads to peak production in August and September. After the US administration's policy change, Apple is gradually diversifying its production, with some iPhones being assembled in India.
