Kia has unveiled the updated Stonic for the 2026 model year in Korea. The compact crossover has changed significantly on the outside, received a new interior design and retained the choice between a petrol engine and a mild hybrid (MHEV).

Here's What We Know

The Kia Stonic has been available since 2017 and it's already the second major update for the compact model. The car is summarised in the modern 'Opposites United' design language and echoes the brand's recently unveiled and updated models, including the electric Sportage and EV3. At the same time, the dimensions are almost unchanged: length is 4165 mm, width is 1760 mm and boot volume is 352 litres.

Both versions for the Korean market are equipped with a 1.0-litre T-GDi turbo petrol engine. In the standard configuration, it develops 100 hp and 172 N-m, accelerating the crossover to 100 km/h in 11 seconds. In the mild hybrid, the power of the unit increases to 113 hp, and the acceleration time to 100 km/h is reduced to 10.7 seconds. Both modifications are available with a six-speed manual or a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT).

Depending on the configuration, the updated Stonic comes with 16- or 17-inch wheels with new discs.

The interior is also designed in the spirit of the latest Kia models. The front fascia gets two 12.3-inch displays and touch controls that can be switched between climate and multimedia. New features include a digital key and an expanded suite of electronic assistants including collision avoidance, blind spot monitoring and intelligent cruise control.

A European version will come later, probably to accommodate future Euro 7 environmental regulations.
