MINI has unveiled the wild JCW duo: a track monster and a hatchback for surfers
MINI has decided to experiment with its John Cooper Works range and together with the Deus Ex Machina brand has built two spectacular show cars. One was the petrol Machina, the other the electric Skeg. Both received radical dodgers, brightly coloured livery and completely redesigned saloons.
Here's What We Know
The Machina is track-orientated. The hatchback stands out with red and white paintwork, widened arches, retro headlights on the bonnet, a new splitter, a large diffuser and a Can-Am-style rear wing. The interior features a roll cage, buckets with five-point belts, hydraulic handbrake and aluminium flooring.
The Skeg (pictured below) is inspired by surf culture. It has silver-yellow graphics, an enclosed glowing grille with round holes, translucent fibreglass fenders, a huge 'Flex Tip Surf Spoiler' on the roof and a mount for a real board. Inside there are neoprene padded buckets, fibreglass panels and even special trays for wetsuits.
In terms of technology, both show cars remain standard JCWs. Machina is equipped with a 2.0-litre turbo engine (228 hp, 380 N-m), Skeg - an electric unit with 255 hp and 350 N-m.
Series production of these models is not planned, but a little later Mini and Deus Ex Machina will release a joint clothing collection. It will be unveiled on 8 September at the IAA Mobility 2025 motor show in Munich and will then go on sale via Deus Ex Machina's global network.
