Bloomberg: Embracer and Take-Two wanted to save the cancelled Perfect Dark game, but didn't split the rights to it
In July, Microsoft has cancelled spy shooter Perfect Dark and is shutting down The Initiative studio Perfect Dark and shutting down The Initiative, the studio created for this game.
The spy action game took more than seven years and a huge budget to develop, and that didn't stop the corporation from making a tough decision. But as reported by insider and Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier, Perfect Dark still had a chance for release.
Here's What We Know
The fact that the studio The Initiative was assisted by the Crystal Dynamics team, which belongs to the Embracer Group holding company. Schreier learned that the Swedish company was negotiating with the publisher Take-Two Interactive. According to the plan, the Americans were supposed to acquire the rights to Perfect Dark from Microsoft and jointly with Embracer to release the game, but in the end the deal did not take place, and one of the reasons is that the parties did not agree on who will own the rights to the franchise in the long term.
To confirm or deny the information, Schreier contacted Embracer, Xbox and Take-Two, but all of them refrained from commenting.
