At IFA 2025 in Berlin, Dolby Laboratories unveiled Dolby Vision 2, a radical update to the HDR standard that will take TV picture quality to the next level.

Here's What We Know

Dolby Vision 2 will be a step towards deeper interaction between content, device and viewer and will offer the following key features:

  • Content Intelligence - an AI system that adapts the image to the type of content and lighting conditions in the room, which will maximise picture fidelity;
  • Precision Black - improves detail in dark scenes, eliminating the "black spot" effect without losing the artistic intent;
  • Light Sense - automatically adjusts the brightness and contrast of the image depending on the light around the viewer;
  • Authentic Motion - the world's first frame-by-frame motion control technology that creates cinematic smoothness without blurring;
  • Sports Gaming Optimisation - a special mode for sports broadcasts and video games, providing realistic and dynamic images.

The standard will be available in two variants:

  • Dolby Vision 2 - for mass-market TV models;
  • Dolby Vision 2 Max - for the premium segment with advanced features.

The first manufacturer to implement the technology will be the Chinese company Hisense, and the streaming service Canal+ is already working on adapting content to the new standard.
