A Wolfenstein sequel is only a matter of time: MachineGames CEO reassures fans of the series
Many gamers genuinely want to see a new instalment of the iconic Wolfenstein shooter series. MachineGames, the studio that released the last two major games - New Order and The New Colossus - has never stated that there will be no sequel, but Bethesda is not giving the green light to this project, favouring Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.
Rumours that the third part of the new Wolfenstein series may still come out have been going around for a long time, but now this information has been indirectly confirmed by the studio's representative.
Here's What We Know
In a new episode of the documentary series Noclip, MachineGames head Jerk Gustafsson confirmed that the studio originally planned a trilogy of games about the brave fighter against the Nazis Williamie "BJ" Blazkowicz, and during the development of New Order a detailed plan and vision of the plot of all three games was drawn up.
The development of Indiana Jones has changed MachineGames' plans somewhat, but the Swedish studio doesn't rule out that gamers will still get the logical conclusion of Wolfenstein.
We've always viewed Wolfenstein as a trilogy. Even in the first few weeks at id, when we were planning New Order, we had a development plan, at least for BJ: what happens in part two, what happens in part three. I think it's worth emphasising that, because - at least I hope so - we're not done with Wolfenstein yet. We have a story to tell.
Consequently, the release of Wolfenstein 3 seems to be only a matter of time.
As a reminder, Amazon MGM recently Amazon launches Wolfenstein series: alternate history and the Nazis are at it again, but its premiere date is still unknown.
