Volkswagen has unveiled the concept ID. Cross - a precursor of an electric crossover with a price of up to 30 thousand euros
ID. The Cross Concept made its debut at the IAA Mobility 2025 motor show in Munich. The name Cross indicates that we are looking at an electric analogue of the compact crossover T-Cross, although in fact they have little in common. ID. Cross will be part of Volkswagen's new range of small electric cars based on the updated front-wheel-drive MEB architecture.
Here's What We Know
The family will also include the ID. Polo and ID. Polo GTI, expected to premiere in 2026, plus a production version of the concept ID. Every1, which will be released in 2027 and is likely to be called ID. Up.
With a wheelbase of 2601 mm, the length of the ID. Cross is 4161 mm. The boot holds 490 litres and there is an additional 25-litre compartment under the bonnet at the front, which is a novelty for electric cars in the ID.
THE ID. Cross got more plastic elements on the outside, original design of rear body pillars and 21-inch wheels. In general, the crossover looks less austere than the hatchback ID. Polo.
The interior reads motifs of the concept ID. 2all: in front of the driver - 11-inch digital dashboard and two-spoke steering wheel. In the centre is a 13-inch tablet, under which there is a block of physical buttons, which was clearly lacking in early VW electric cars.
The seats can be folded flush with the floor, turning the cabin into a kind of camper. The backrests are upholstered with a material similar to a yoga mat.
It is known that the ID. Cross is equipped with a front electric motor with an output of 211 hp (155 kW), which is slightly less than that of the ID. Polo GTI (223 hp). The range reaches 420 kilometres on the WLTP cycle.
Officially it is a concept, but the production version will be released in the summer of next year and will be almost no different from the shown sample. The start of sales is expected at the end of 2026. The starting price will be about 28 thousand euros, and competitors will be Kia EV2, Toyota Urban Cruiser, Ford Puma Gen-E and Volvo EX30.
