Henderson: Sony will equip the PlayStation 6 with a removable disc drive
Reputable insider Tom Henderson has shared some interesting information about Sony's plans to launch the PlayStation 6, an ambitious next-generation home console.
Here's What We Know
Henderson's source said that the new console will get a simple design that will be significantly different from the PS5.
Sony will reintroduce a removable disc drive for its device, which will be available at the time of the PS6's release, while the current model didn't have this feature until three years later.
This is great news for fans of physical editions of games, as we can be sure that, at the very least, the Japanese company will continue to release disc versions of its blockbusters in the coming years.
According to Henderson, Sony is pleased with the sales results of the removable disc drive for the PS5 and has no reason to abandon it.
Separately, it is noted that buyers will be able to purchase the PS6 without the disc drive and later add it or choose a bundle with both items at once.
The PlayStation 6 is expected to be released in 2027 or 2028, and you can find out its unofficial specifications in our material.
